Short Story – Story By Stacy

Short Story – Story By Stacy

We got to create one of the Short Story albums during Convention this summer.  I felt so lucky to get a chance to create this with Stacy Julian!  I confess it was a little stressful to create because you are looking doing a “mash-up” of your photos to tell a short story.  Not chronological.  Gasp!  The only real journaling is on the last page of the book.   Whew, right?!  In the end, I was thrilled by what I had created.  It worked out so much better then I thought it would.

Product Description

Each workshop kit includes:
1 – 6″ × 6″ album
10 – 6″ × 6″ Memory Protectors™
12 – patterned paper sheets; 6″ × 6″
20 – White Daisy cardstock sheets; 6″ × 6″
4 – sticker and die-cut sheets; 6″ × 6″
1 – Black & White Dots
1 – white twine; 1 yd.
1 – black & white gingham ribbon; 3 yds.
1 – Short Story workbook

I’m working on getting my Short Story into a YouTube video so I can share.  I tend to do FB lives then need to figure out how to make them YouTubes.  =)

Sensational September Things To Remember!

Thank you for visiting my corner of the internet.   I know that you have lots to do and appreciate your time.   Be watching for some videos on the Short Story from Story by Stacy.  Don’t forget to join the Happy Mail gathering when you check out for more free fun!

Friends Fur Ever

Friends Fur Ever

“Friends Fur Ever” is a Story by Stacey mini-album that my daughter did.  I created the front “belly band” of the album to hold it close.  SG did the rest.  I only want to share the cover at this point so you can see how I used the Stamp of the Month (SOM) – S1806 A Bushel and A Peck on it.   The little girl in the set is great to use for some many things, one of which is to represent SG in things we create.

I used a retired pet stamp set from CTMH as well.  I tried to color the puppy on the front like SG’s dog, Huck.  Love our Shin Touch Markers!  SG love our fur babies and wanted to tell the story of how much she loves and enjoys them.  She picked the pictures out and did an awesome job.   On another post, I’ll share how this can be a great project for you and your kids (or grandkids).

I can’t wait to see what the new Story by Stacy products are going to be.  I decided these would be a fun way to “write” a letter to SG each year, sharing my hopes, dreams, and prayers with her.  One day, I won’t be here to tell her how much she means to me.  With these cute little mini-albums from Story by Stacy, I’ll be able to leave her a love letter for each year of her life, celebrating what she means to me.

Thanks for stopping by my corner of the internet.  I hope you all have friends fur ever – our pets that you can celebrate their stories with these mini-albums

What a day, April 1!!

What a day, April 1!!

What a day, April 1!  Seriously.  Happy Easter, everyone. He has risen!  It’s also April’s Fool Day.  And if that’s not enough to celebrate on one day,  Jeff and I celebrate 18 years of marriage today.  This also coincides with 18 years with CTMH.  Poor Jeff has never know life without CTMH since we were married.  This is the perfect to celebrate many important things: Jesus, fun, my best friend, family, CTMH which provides an outlet for my passion to create and all the marvelous friends which come from this love.  Very rarely will this occur on the same day.

The 1st of April also means changes in CTMH’s specials.  Let’s take a look!

Rest and Relax but don’t miss out!

Rest and Relax but don’t miss out!

This layout was inspired by a layout made by my friend Jennifer Smith.  You can check her layout here.  The file for this does not open but I created my own and will share at the end.  Using the Make Waves Workshop Your Way, this is the first of three layouts I’m creating using the CTMH Cricut Cartridges, especially You Are Here.

This is done with the Make Waves Workshop Your Way plus some extra cardstock – Bashful, Pacifica, Charcoal, Vellum, Black, Willow, Emerald, Espresso, Lemon, and Glacier.  I used Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels to create the splatter effect on the papers.  You can make your own mist with our bottles which normally I do when I don’t want it to be shimmery.  I’ve run out of the pearl paint we used to sell to make it all shimmery and have yet to find a good replacement for it.  Any suggestions?

Here are some close ups of different elements:

Love the layers in here between the all the elements.  The clear Shimmer Brush adds some fun to the angel fish.  The eyes are done with Black Pearl Paint.

The Make Waves Shimmer trim is just amazing.  There are three different shades of the tropical blue-greens you see in the oceans down around Florida.  Use a piercing tool to put the crease the palm trees and ink to distress those edges  so they show up.  Such a simple way to give dimension to the leaves.

Scalloped Shells are made with Bashful and Pixie Cardstock (both on sale right now).  Shadowing in them is from the Bashful Shimmer Brush.   What I did not have pictures of is the added bling put on after the layouts were photographed.  I put the Bashful Pearls on the shells and used several of the  glitter gems from the Make Waves Sequins and Gems collection all through the layout.  It was the perfect finishing touch.

Design Space File: https://design.cricut.com/#/design/83770608

Note on this.  I create my layouts with all the cuts.  I don’t cut the square and rectangle pieces because I can cut them more economically with a straight edge cutter.  Just hide the pieces you don’t want to cut.

February things to keep in mind so you don’t miss out:

Thanks for stopping by to checkout my creative world.  Hope this layout brings back some great memories of you being able to relax on an island vacation!  If you need some creative help,  I’m here to help you out – email me: info@lindacreates.com.

Cats and Bats Workshop Your Way

Cats and Bats Workshop Your Way

Check out these 6 layouts you can create with the Cats and Bats WYW G1136.  These layouts are from the Studio Sus and you can get the directions for free when you purchase the WYW from my website!  I love that three of the layouts are about girlfriends, best days ever, and birthday party.  I’ve not completed the layouts because I need to get the pictures on them.  I’ll be using some of them for my birthday. =)

You’ll receive electronic copies of cutting directions, pictures for assembly, and a “the rest of the story” to create these awesome layouts.  No into Halloween?  Then remove the Picture My Life cards that are used as titles and replace them with photographs.  Use the backside of the papers are that are “non-Halloween”.

The colors of the Cats and Bats paper pack are fun.  You can see that I changed things up using Gypsy paper for some of the bases. I like the brightness and think adding a shade of purple in, makes things pop more.  Eggplant looks good as well.

You are Here – Acadia – Design Space File

You are Here – Acadia – Design Space File

This is the first of many layouts for this summer’s road trip.  I’m using a combination of the new Basic Color Palette (10 new nummy colors that are two toned) and Jack, the featured paper pack of the month.  The brown is called Espresso.  I did a FB live in my customer group showing the difference between the two sides.

 Designing this layout:

I designed the layout in Design Space.  The pattern is from our new “Make It From You Heart Vol 3” pattern book which is all scrapbooking layouts.  I used Patter 20.   I did change some things on the pattern to accommodate my needs – making mats for the 3×4 pictures, putting spaces between the  photo wells, and creating a journal block the way I did.  Even though I could have the Cricut Explorer cut all the pieces, I do not do this.  Cut all the squares/rectangle shapes from my cutter.   Here is the file for Design Space:

https://design.cricut.com/#/design/66765498

You will need to purchase the CTMH Cricut Collection “You Are Here” to use the images.  This cartridge is a worth while investment because its got 700 images between the fonts and the images.  It’s all about traveling and significant events.  Learn more about the cartridge here.

The font offers you the option to have the letters all bold and thicker, like the capitol letters on my title, or to have the letters normal.  I like this font as it’s clean and easy to read.   There are several National Park emblem on this cartridge (now hoping for them to do a cartridge with the rest of the State Parks).

Hashtags are in and this is a good one.  Our theme for the summer has been to be outside so this rocks.

You’ll use this image over and over for your pages. We always need to date things.  “Vacation Date” looks good and it’s so much nicer then just writing the date somewhere in the journaling or on the page.

Here, you cut the “windy road” sign, in half, and put each side on the respective page to make it look like it’s overlapping.  Having overlapping features help the reader’s eyes flow across the page and build continuity.

Flip Flaps

If you scrap with me at all, you know I love using flip flaps to fit more pictures into the layout and that I try to put one event between two pages no matter what.  Using 3″x4″ flip flaps and adding a mat that is 1/2 of an inch bigger, I will build some books on this layout of the pictures.

Jack:

So where’s Jack in all of this?  Jack is the background paper behind the title.  This is actually from the Picture My Life cards that are available to cut up from two of the sheets in the paper pack.  I used two more Picture My Life cards to create the journal block.  The little strip under the Cranberry piece on both pages is called the “zip strip” from the top of the pages.  It’s the 1/2 inch you cut off.  Once side has the name of the paper and matching colors on it.  The backside of all the zip strips on the CTMH papers is usable as you see here.  Jack retires on August 31!  Not much time left to buy it!

Why I scrapbook.

Why I scrapbook

I’m sharing with you a great post by the Close To My Heart Blog.  This is a great read on taking pictures.
At Convention, Chari presented this to us and it was great!   As she’s the owner of Persnicky Prints for printing your photos, it’s logical to discuss the need or why of printing photos.  It’s about how a picture has more meaning and value as a printed picture than as jpeg. Our pictures are in danger of being in the abyss of black hole of a hard drive. As we go through our busy lives, we take pictures all the time. And they get compiled on a hard drive somewhere, IF we are that organized. Not printed. Just out there. In the black abyss of jpegs.
Someone may or may not discover them. The stories are untold. In our busy, picture-taking world, it’s very important that we stop and print our pictures for this reason.. That we give them meaning, a voice, and celebrate the “why”. Put them on our walls.  Scrapbook them some how.  It’s so very important because who else can tell your story but you?  And how else tells your family’s story, but you?
I’m so reminded of the importance of this with the passing of my friend, Michelle Barrett. When I was new to the area, a mutual friend of ours, Lisa Smith, coordinated a monthly scrapbooking group.  For a several years, I taught classes to them and then joined them to scrap afterwards when I could.  I watched Michelle’s kids grow up. Their first steps. Watched the Disney trips. The pool project.  Baseball.   All through the pages of her scrapbooks. Michelle had a wonderful smile, quick wit, and an infectious laugh.  She’d also tell you how it was.
This group of ladies celebrated many milestones together in this little room, once a month, for years.  They shocked me with the most awesome baby shower a girl could hope for with things you actually need, not what you think you need, LOL.  Especially when you are in the military and your entire family is on the West Coast.  They were there to answer the questions I had and to help me out.   I met other friends through them who played different roles in my life.  In the process of scrapbooking our lives, we supported each other.  We did life together.
In her passing, I’m reminisce on these memories.  She’s my age.  We have kids that still need to grow up.   These facts alone are hard to grapple with.  The possibility or reality of leaving your family before you see them grown brings tears to my eyes as I type this.  I think of how grateful I am that I got to spend the time I did with Michelle.  How grateful her family will be in the years to come for the time, hard work, money invested in those scrapbooks.   How they will have those books to look through when they miss her so much.  How they will have those wonderful family vacations to remember.  How much their Mom/Wife loved them.  Michelle leaves us too soon.  Her scrapbooks are here forever to tell her story.
I look at the volumes of scrapbooks we have.  I look at all of SG’s scrapbooks from ZooTastic.  I started scrapbooking because we found pictures in my Grandmother’s house, after she passed, with not a lot of information available.  They are a box.  My Dad passed away a few years ago.  That same box and more are there with even less information.   Jeff and I, our lives are preserved in many albums for SG.  SG loves to look them.  Jeff takes his Tiger Album to different places to share (okay, to show off his tiger training days). We love to laugh, remember, and sometimes, cry, over moments in our lives.  I know when I’m gone, they will have these books that tell all of our stories.
This is why I scrapbook.  So print those pictures.  You are valuable.  Find the best way you to tell your story.  There are so many options.  If you need help, I’m here to help you.   If you want company, I work at my house on Tuesday and Thursdays and one weekend a month.  You can join me to crop.  I don’t charge for the space.  I love company.  Just tell your story with another person creates more memories.  All of this is priceless.

Do you have a wild child?

Do you have a wild child?

Most of us have that one person who is a “wild child” even if they are not a child!  It’s that person who has a free spirit or an adrenaline junkie.  They march to their own drummer.  Or they are your children who seem to have no understanding of the danger zones of life!  This layout is perfect for this.  You can use it for your inner wild child even.

With the Jack Workshop Your Way (WYW) and the workshop directions from me (which you receive free with a $25.00 purchase of the workshop supplies from my shopping website). I used some different twine that I had left over in my stash, the gray and white twine.

The half circles are made from the circle thin cuts that are cut in half.   You can use the circles to layer and create different background designs as well.  They are a staple in your scrapbooking arsenal just so you can have different shapes to use.

Use thin and regular 3D foam tape to pop up the different elements and letters so you get different layers.  I’m going to use this with SG, who’s favorite color is blue.  I’ll add in Pacficia for some matting.  Most of the picture sizes have flip flaps available for use.  You all know I love my flip flaps.   You’ll need the following supplies to create this layout:

Each Full ‘Jack’ Workshop Kit will require the following Consumable products:
