Montana Memories

Montana Memories

Here’s some of our Montana Memories.  Certainly not all of them.  It’s so hard to leave family and friends and time went fast.   Missoula, Montana should be on everyone’s bucket list.  I’m sharing some of our new memories.  Looking forward to scrapping these memories and pictures.   My goal this year is to get more pictures off the hard drive and into books so we don’t loose the stories.  Here is some of the fun:

Yes, zip-lining!! It is scary to start off with and great fun once you learn that you are not going to fall.

One of my favorite things is playing in the creek.  I’m so glad SG loves this too.

Honey Dad hikes the mountain.  Jeff and SG with him, hiking.

SG, Uncle Travis, and Aunt Lauren went hiking to Sanders Hot Spring.  This was SG’s first backpacking and overnight.  She had a great time!

Aunt Julie and Cousin Jack came to visit.  A stop of the A Carousel for Missoula is a must as it’s one of the fastest carousels I’ve been on and the hand carved “ponies” are amazing!

Amazing August Things To Remember!

Thanks for stopping by my corner of the internet.  Thank you all for being sweet friends of the crafty world.  Have a creative day!

Berry Sweet Memories

As many of you know, we have some “Berry Sweet Memories” happening here with the loss of a good friend, a grandma, my Dad, and our beloved Ginger (pet for 15 years).  When playing with the Taste of Summer papers, I love how well they work with black cardstock.  It makes the colors just pop.  I was thinking to myself how appropriate – the darkness and sadness of death symbolized by the black, yet the bright colors are the sweet memories.  I titled the layout  “Berry Sweet Memories”, show the paradox of losing friends, family, and pets.

As our daughter struggles with these significant losses in our family, I found a great picture on FB about how death brings heartache but your memories are always yours.    I had SG choose her favorite pictures of people/Ginger to use for the layout.   For both SG and I, creating this layout helps process the loss and shows the one of the true value of scrapbooking – capturing and preserving memories forever.  It’s art therapy.  Using this picture and pictures she chose, we created the above layout.  I love how the colors in the papers essentially speak to the bitter sweetness of the situation, yet the pictures speak to the joy of the relationships and things she remembers.

The inspiration for design came from the “Make It From Your Heart Volume 2”.  I cut out flowers from the Cricut using Art Philosophy.  I colored the yellow in with the ShinHan Touch Marker, used our Glue pen over the top, and dipped it in Prisma Glitter.  I cut the title “Berry Sweet Memories” out twice, from Artfully Sent, once in Hollyhock and once in Black.  I off-set them a touch to add depth/shadowing to the title.

I inked the strawberries in Hollyhock ink and rolled the edges on the Ruby ink pad to give the strawberries, variations in color.  I colored the seeds with the ShinHan Touch Marker (yellow) and then added Liquid Glass for a 3D look and feel to them.  I used foam tape to pop up the strawberries.
