Travel Activity Book

Travel Activity Book

I found this wonderful Travel Activity Book from my friend Ginni Candelera.  I got the workshop directions and when I realized I was running out of time to cut and make it before we departed from Maryland, I reached back out and was so blessed she had one kit left.  When SG went off on her first backpacking trip, I worked hard to get it done!   Here are a few of the pages to show you how cool it is.

The workshop uses the Adventure Fundamental Paper Pack which is scheduled to retire here in a few weeks.   The Cricut Cuts are from the You Are Here Cricut Cartridge (over 700 images on this).  We are driving all around Oregon over the next several days and this book has provided a great deal of entertainment for us.  The album is a “Everyday Life” album.

Here’s a quick YouTube I made showing some more of the pages.  Ginni has created a very fun book that is invaluable to anyone taking road trips with older kids (and even adults) to help pass the time:

More pages to come in later blog posts!

Amazing August Things To Remember!

You Are Here

You Are Here

Here’s a card using the Fresh Air paper and some of the new stamps available in the SE2.  The set I used works with the “You Are Here” Cricut Cartridge.  The Design Space file is included in the post.  The US is cut from the You Are Here Cricut Cartridge.  The stamping done in Espresso along with the distressing around the edges of the map.

The sentiment above is in the You Are Here cartridge.  Below is using the font on the cartridge.  I cut it out three times, gluing the different layers.  The bottom layer is cut from the Espresso cardstock and offset to look like a shadow.  The technique is great, looks fantastic, but I don’t recommend it for mass production!  It might be drive you a little insane.

This is the stamp set, D1778 US Vacation used:

Builders Board

Builders’ Board

SG had a project to be an inventor.  I created a bulletin board to celebrate all of the student’s work.  It was so fun to read all of the different ideas they can and how they created inventions!  This is not my most creative board as I was trying to capture some different words they used to describe what they did.

Thank goodness for the Cricut and having all these different fonts and images to use to make the board more interesting.

Are these ideas just amazing for 3rd graders?!  I’m so blessed that I have the time to volunteer and help out.  I thank CTMH for the ability to be my own boss so I can have the time to volunteer in my daughter’s classroom.

May things to keep in mind:

Thanks for stopping by corner of the internet.  I’m so proud of all the kids and excited to make the Builders’ Board   Have a creative day!

Hello Friend and heads up

Hello Friend and heads up

Check out this super cute Hello Friend dragonfly card that will be on the Come and Play Card Buffet.  My goal is to clear out some of the stash of papers that I have hanging around.  Using the Cricut to create this dragonfly and retired Dream Big papers, here’s a great card for the Card Buffet!

The sentiment is stamped on a banner from the banner thin cut dies which are on sale for $10.49 or $27.90 in the banners bundle.

Liquid Glass is used over the wings to create the glossy effect.  Tried to keep it “in the lines” of the wings but some went out.  You can layer the Liquid Glass, letting it dry between coats.

Sunshine Thank You

Sunshine Thank You

Wow, what a crazy flash sale and I’m so glad to see so many take advantage of a great sale.  Creating this Sunshine Thank You was so much fun and easy too.  Using Design Space and an overlay from ArtBooking and the February SOM Sunshine Thoughts, you are ready to go.

The overlay actually has a sun on it.  Do have the stamp pop out, it’s covered up.  Using Black on this layout, the bright Tangerine and Lemon cardstock really stands out.

Use 3D Foam tap to give dimension to the card and have the sentiment pop up.

Use a variety of sequins to add a little bling to the card.  They are CTMH’s Gold Sequins and Queen and Comp’s yellow sequins from her topper collections.  The February SOM S1802 Sunny Thoughts has great sentiments for both scrapbooking and cardmaking:

Rest and Relax but don’t miss out!

Rest and Relax but don’t miss out!

This layout was inspired by a layout made by my friend Jennifer Smith.  You can check her layout here.  The file for this does not open but I created my own and will share at the end.  Using the Make Waves Workshop Your Way, this is the first of three layouts I’m creating using the CTMH Cricut Cartridges, especially You Are Here.

This is done with the Make Waves Workshop Your Way plus some extra cardstock – Bashful, Pacifica, Charcoal, Vellum, Black, Willow, Emerald, Espresso, Lemon, and Glacier.  I used Glimmer Mist from Tattered Angels to create the splatter effect on the papers.  You can make your own mist with our bottles which normally I do when I don’t want it to be shimmery.  I’ve run out of the pearl paint we used to sell to make it all shimmery and have yet to find a good replacement for it.  Any suggestions?

Here are some close ups of different elements:

Love the layers in here between the all the elements.  The clear Shimmer Brush adds some fun to the angel fish.  The eyes are done with Black Pearl Paint.

The Make Waves Shimmer trim is just amazing.  There are three different shades of the tropical blue-greens you see in the oceans down around Florida.  Use a piercing tool to put the crease the palm trees and ink to distress those edges  so they show up.  Such a simple way to give dimension to the leaves.

Scalloped Shells are made with Bashful and Pixie Cardstock (both on sale right now).  Shadowing in them is from the Bashful Shimmer Brush.   What I did not have pictures of is the added bling put on after the layouts were photographed.  I put the Bashful Pearls on the shells and used several of the  glitter gems from the Make Waves Sequins and Gems collection all through the layout.  It was the perfect finishing touch.

Design Space File: https://design.cricut.com/#/design/83770608

Note on this.  I create my layouts with all the cuts.  I don’t cut the square and rectangle pieces because I can cut them more economically with a straight edge cutter.  Just hide the pieces you don’t want to cut.

February things to keep in mind so you don’t miss out:

Thanks for stopping by to checkout my creative world.  Hope this layout brings back some great memories of you being able to relax on an island vacation!  If you need some creative help,  I’m here to help you out – email me: info@lindacreates.com.

Happy Wishes on Valentine’s Day

Happy Wishes on Valentine’s Day

Happy Valentine’s Day.  If you are not spending it with your favorite loved one, I hope you are planning to spend time with friends or having  special day to celebrate you!  Created with the Bashful Glitter Paper (on sale), this simple card sends a sweet message to a new couple for happy wishes on their special day.

Pink is not really my color.  Since Pretty in Pink in the special this month, I’m doing some creating with pink.  The pink glitter paper along with the silver paper creates a very elegant look.

With the silver paper, emboss it with the rose embossing folder.  It was really bright so I took a piece of vellum and embossed it so it matched the silver paper.  This softened up the look immensely and I was really pleased with the look.

The sentiment is from one of the Circut Artfully Sent stamp sets.  I love the this sentiment stamp set.  Matting the sentiment piece on some silver gave the card just enough of the shiny bling.  Add the Bashful Pearls (also on sale!) to finish the card off.

Pick up the Bashful Glitter Paper and Bashful Pearls on sale this month:

You Are the Sunshine Shakers

You Are The Sunshine Shakers

The February Stamp of the Month (SOM) S1802 Sunny Thoughts is a wonderful stamp set.  I had this vision of creating a shaker card with the sentiment “You are the Sunshine in My Pocket” with a sunshine shaker.   You can see why from the sentiments in this set:

I ended up creating a 2 cards for this, using two different options.   The first one was creating using the Design Space and the sunshine overlay from Artbooking.    Cut out the overlay at least 14-15 times to create the shaker.    The idea comes  from Jennifer Mcquire and some shaker ornaments she made.  She did hers with a die.  For mass production, I prefer using Design Space!

It’s a little tedious to glue all the layers together.  The look you get is well worth it.  You can make any image you want to cut out multiple times and make a great shaker from it.  Get the acetate from Staples in a box of transparencies.    They work great and are inexpensive. Cardstock is Black, Lemon, and Tangerine, all CTMH.  Fill with Queen and Company toppers.   Use a sponge dauber to swirl around Lemon ink on the sentiment to give it some depth and color.

The second shaker is made using Queen and Company’s sunburst foam card front and die:

The Making Waves  purple paper went on top with Lemon cardstock as the base.  The Lemon cardstock shows through like rays of sunshine and the yellow toppings added some bling and shake to it all.   The purple/white dots background and texture paper really makes the Lemon pop.  The large circle die from CTMH cuts the circle for the sentiment but you can use the circle from Art Philosophy (if you have it) or Access, and cut at 2.5″.  Distress the circle with Lemon ink and a sponge dauber.

February things to keep in mind:

Thanks for stopping by to checkout my creative world.  Catch this sunshine of a stamp set.  It’s sure to brighten someone’s day.   If you need some creative help,  I’m here to help you out – give me a call or email me: info@lindacreates.com!!
