I really like the sentiment “You Are My Sunshine” the March SOM S1603. I say this to my daughter all the time so I created this card using a sketch challenge from last month.
I will give her this card, just as a “I’m thinking of you” card. This card was created following the post of the MM435 sketch back in February.
I originally made the card like this:
Then decided I did not like the way the background papers look so I recreated to be the first card. Better, huh? Stamp the images in Memento Black Ink. I did the coloring of the suns and butterflies with a watercolor technique. I used the top of my ink pad by pushing down on the cover of the lid a few times. Ink gets on the top of the lid. When you open it, you can see it. Using a watercolor brush, you add water to the ink and paint with it. I used Thistle and Pixie on the butterfly. I used Canary and Sunset on the sun.
I fussy cut out the butterflies. I used a gel clear glitter pen to add some subtle shimmer to the the words and to trace over the black outlines.
This is a great card for anyone who is a sunshine in your life. I think we’ll use it for the Come and Play Card Buffet. Thanks for stopping by.
