Love me some cactus

Love me some cactus Hug Me card especially with the kraft cardstock!

Stuck on you Card 1 wm

This set is comes with the thin cuts which make cutting super easy!

Hug Me Card Cactus Linda Creates ~ Linda Caler #linda_creates #cardmaking #stamping #cactus

You can stamp on the paper first, then use the dies to cut out the image. Or you can cut the dies out first and stamp on the cutout image.  I picked up one of the magnet platforms for the Vagabond so that the magnet holds the die firmly in place.  This was a great tip from my stamping friend Linda McPherson.

Stuck on you Card 1a wm

The sentiment is stamped on the pennant in chocolate.  Tied off with some flaxen extra thick twine.

Thanks for swinging by.  Have a creative day!

New tote idea from a friend

I met up with some friends last weekend and one of them had this great tote for her crafting supplies.

lbb wm

This bag is always packed with supplies needed to craft on the run. Linda (also my friend’s name) found the bag at Home Depot. It’s made by Husky.  It’s $24.97!!!

linda black bag wm

Look at all those fantastic pockets!!  The top handle moves to the side.  This makes it easier to get things out!

bag 2 wm

The 12″ Surecut trimmer from Fiskars fits in there as well as our Versamat!!  LOVE!  think Linda has packed everything but the kitchen sink in there.

This bag is always packed and ready to go with her “necessary” supplies.  I think I must have one……but then I found this one online!!  It’s a little more expensive…but wow….613055f5-b6f2-4347-9224-7ebeae1a2592_1000And this one…..

Husky may have found a new market – totes for scrappers and crafters!!  Thanks for stopping by!

Adding some sunshine to your day

I love the song “You are my sunshine” and S1503 Sunshine Birdies has this saying in it.  I created this card from the MM435 Sketch:

mm435 MarSOM Card 3 wm

Here’s the sketch:

I used the Penelope Papers for this card.  Love the bright spring colors of the paper.

mm435 MarSOM Card 3b wm

I used ink pads and a water color brush to do the coloring of the sun and other images.  I then went over it with a clear Wink of Stella to add shimmer to the sun.  I had some other scraps and I made the same card, different paper:

Penelope Flip Flap Class

I created this Penelope Flip Flap Class for my friend Kim and her friends.  They wanted to have a more “hands on” class for learning to use all the different types of flip flaps on the scrapbooking pages.  Here’s the base layout I created:

Penelope layout wm

You have room for 5 or 6 pictures on this layout.  You can see the “shiny” of the flip flaps over some of the photo areas.  By adding various sizes of flip flaps, you can actually get 20 pictures on this layout!

PFFC Base LO wm with how pics

That’s certainly helps to get one event in between 2 pages!!  Here’s a picture to help you see the flip flaps:

Have some more pictures you need to fit in?  Use our 12″ assortment Z1325to help out!  By adding a 12″x6″ flip flap to the left page you can get this:

PFFC left side with flip wm

You create a 12″x6″ page to slip into the flip flap.  In the class they will make this:

I added the glitter to my title and some of the vellum butterflies from the Penelope Compliments.  If they want to add those, they can purchase any of the wonderful coordinating embellishments or compliments.  One of my favorite things about CTMH is how they provide coordinating options for you to bling up your pages.  Once I get the Easter pictures in, I will add more to the pages.

Back to adding flip flaps.  This 12″x6″ flip flap will allow you to add four more 3″x4″ pictures to the layout, taking you up to 24 pictures now!  You can even add 3″x4″ flip flaps to all four of these pictures to add 8-16 more pictures (one on the Easter side and three on the backside).  Amazing, right!?

Cost of the class is $20.00.  What you get:

Charlotte Assortment Card

Here’s a card created from scraps from last month’s Charlotte assortment and papers.

Charlotte Card with Compliments

It’s a basic card with Charlotte scraps – just cut strips and layer them.  The middle strip is one of the zip strips from the papers.  The sentiment is from the assortment.

The sentiment is stamped in gold foil.  Simple, elegant, and says it all.   Thanks for stopping by!

Stuck On You

The cactus cards are showing up all over so I’m glad that CTMH gave us a cute cactus stamp set C1643 Stuck On You, which included the sentiment “Stuck On You”.  stuck on you stamp set c

This cute set has a set of thin dies to make life easier so you don’t have to fussy cut the images out:

stuck on you dies

I encourage you to look at the three stamp sets with dies.  We have sold out of the dies for the C1641 Springtime Wishes already and it’s been discontinued!  Anyway,  I created this card:

FMS223 Card wm

using the Freshly Made Sketches 223:

FMS Final 223-001

I used our watercolor pencils to color and shade the cactus and pot.  I think I prefer watercolor pencils when it comes to coloring in images where I want more control.

RS (5)

After you color in the image, take a wet brush and go over your coloring.  It will smooth out the lines.

RS (3)

I did a basic white front panel by using the stitched rectangle dies from Simon Stamps.

RS (4)

I used Fundamentals Basics and took the chocolate shiny side and smoothie for the strips behind the stitched circle  The sentiment is stamped in Memento Black on a white strip which is dove-tailed.   Thanks for stopping by!

Tissue Box Popup Card

With the season’s changing, everyone’s getting colds and these Tissue Box Popup cards are super handy to have around to send to someone who needs a little cheering up.

My friend April Smith made these cuties for me.  They are made from the Charlotte Paper Pack.

I love how when you open up the card, the little box of tissues is there.

Here’s a little bit better picture:

You put a piece of real tissue in the box.  I think it’s super cute because we all have the seasonal head colds right now.

The cup and tag are cut from the Cricut Artistry, an exclusive cartridge from CTMH.  It comes with a paper pack and 3 stamp sets to match the images.   Gold Foil Tape is used on the tea cups to add an accent.

Get Well Tissue Pop Up Card 2b wm

The White and Gold ribbon finishes off the cards.  I love this ribbon and the Black and Gold ribbon because it’s not super wide ribbon and has the “bling” of gold in it.  Works great to add to any card or scrapbook layout.  Thanks for stopping by to check out these cute tissue box cards!

You Are My Sunshine S1603

I really like the sentiment “You Are My Sunshine” the March SOM S1603.  I say this to my daughter all the time so I created this card using a sketch challenge from last month.

mm435 MarSOM Card 3 wm

I will give her this card, just as a “I’m thinking of you” card. This card was created following the post of the MM435 sketch back in February.

Mojo435I originally made the card like this:

mm435 MarSOM Card 3c wm

Then decided I did not like the way the background papers look so I recreated to be the first card. Better, huh?  Stamp the images in Memento Black Ink.  I did the coloring of the suns and butterflies with a watercolor technique. I used the top of my ink pad by pushing down on the cover of the lid a few times. Ink gets on the top of the lid. When you open it, you can see it. Using a watercolor brush, you add water to the ink and paint with it.  I used Thistle and Pixie on the butterfly.  I used Canary and Sunset on the sun.

mm435 MarSOM Card 3a wm

I fussy cut out the butterflies.  I used a gel clear glitter pen to add some subtle shimmer to the the words and to trace over the black outlines.

mm435 MarSOM Card 3b wm

This is a great card for anyone who is a sunshine in your life.  I think we’ll use it for the Come and Play Card Buffet.  Thanks for stopping by.
