Thinking of you…..

I was thinking of you when I created this last card for the January SOM S1601 Elegant Bouquet:

Jan SOM card 3 wm

I love this little spray that looks like baby’s breath.  It makes beautiful backgrounds.  I used it doing first and second generation stamping in Bamboo.  I really like the Bamboo with the black paper from La Vie En Rose paper pack.

Jan SOM Card 3 d wm

I cut the butterfly from the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge.

I used Gold Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist to spray both the background panel and the butterfly.

I only adhered the body of the butterfly to the base so the wings would be fold up.  Makes the butterfly look like it’s flying.

This card will be in the Come and Play Card Buffet!  Thanks for stopping by.

CTMH Thin Cut Dies – worth it?

CTMH has released Thin Cut Dies (TCD) to match our stamp sets (yipee!).  I’ve been asked if they are really “worth it”.   I put together following to give you an idea of what you get when you purchase CTMH TCD vs other companies dies.  Almost all of the thin cut dies I get have matching stamp sets.

Here’s a picture of the thin cut dies.  One from one of my favorite companies and one from CTMH:

TCD vs CTMH TCD wm

Here’s what you get for a basic TCD:

Here’s what you get from a CTMH TCD:

CTMH TCD wm

Since they both come with matching stamp set, I did not compare this.  I may in the next to look at price points for the stamps.  I believe that there are some definite advantages to purchasing the TCDs from CTMH as the price point is excellent for what you get, you get the magnetic storage sheet and envelope (I actually put my dies into the same envelope as the stamps to keep them together – awesauce!), and you don’t have to cut them apart.  Here’s to hoping CTMH will continue to produce dies to match the stamp sets!!

Snow days make for blessed days

The past snow days have shown me how blessed we can be and not realize it!  Got home yesterday afternoon from the Harbor Scrapbook weekend in Camp Hill PA.  Because of the incoming snow storm, rather than cancel, we opened up the crop room on Thursday for croppers to start and the hotel let everyone stay as long as they wanted on Sunday!!  An extended crop!

HS PA 2016_01 WM Collage

With 83 BRAVE croppers and more time, I was able to wander around and see the different creating going on.

I was able to get great vacation ideas from Kathy for Lake Tobias.  Be sure to check it out!

I had more meaningful conversation with everyone.  The Come and Play Card Buffet was great fun and full of giggles:

The kids had a fantastic time playing in the snow…especially digging out Binny’s car and playing in the HUGE snow pile from plowing out the parking lot!

Snow days do make for blessed days and I am grateful!!

Trying something new with RS198

I was working on some lunch box cards for my daughter and saw the RS#198 sketch so I thought I’d try something new with one of the dies and the sketch. Here’s what I made:

RS198 wm

Here’s the sketch:

rs198

Some fun points. My frame is a partial peek-through – the border shows the background but in the center I put a sentiment and popped up the cookie:

RS198 awm

I used watercolor paints and “brush flicking” to create the background on the card. The space was too much plain. Adding the splatter balanced out the card for my eye. I love the look – more solid than using Glimmer Mist or Spray pens.

RS198 b wm

Thanks to Retro Sketches for a great sketch where encouraged me to try something new!  Stamp set and dies are from Simon Says Stamp.   Thanks for stopping by my space in the internet world!.

Technique Tuesday – another use for your embossing folders

It’s Tuesday and here’s something you can use your embossing folders for to create some fun and different backgrounds.

Embossing Folders Paint & Ink wm numbered Collage

You can see a card I made using this technique by clicking on this link- You Keep Me Afloat!   It’s always good to have another use for your embossing folders.  Have a great day!

In the chill, it’s nice to think of the beach!

It’s been a little chilly over here in MD and we saw our first snow on Sunday which makes me wish for the beach! Here’s a fun card using paper layering and simple Cricut cut-outs!

SITA Card wm

I grabbed some Sapphire and Desert Sand papers to create the front of the card.  I was hoping to have it look like the waves coming in on a beach.  The images are cut out of the Cricut Artistry Cartridge *Love*!  The images work with this stamp set:

D1684 Beach Daysz3167 Artisty

I use this method for helping me be more accurate on how I center my stamping on Cricut images:

Stamping Cricut cuts wm

Here you can see how I lined up the ball:

SITA Card wm b

I actually used the ball to hold the front of the card shut by having the sentiment stamp slip under the ball:

SITA Card wm a

On the inside of the card, I put this absolutely adorable crab (I love in Maryland and crabs are a big thing here) inside the card with the sentiment and a starfish:

SITA Card wm c

See how cute this crab is:

I also used the awesome Regatta paper pack:

Everything to create this is a must have for beach cards and layouts!!
