A Star for you and New Years Eve

Here’s my last Christmas card made with a very simple star stamp set!

FMS 214 card (1)

Here is the sketch I used to create the card:

FMS Final 214-001

I used this stamp set:

A1176 Christmas Star

I did a spray background and silhouette for the manger scene:

Sequins are an easy embellishment to add to cards and it makes the cards more “post office friendly”!  =)

The sentiment is taken from another stamp set I had  in my stash.  It’s New Year’s Eve – Have a fun and safe one!

Thanks for stopping by!

A light for you

Created this simple for a friend who needed a little pick me up, to let her know that she’s a light in my life.

SOM Card 3 wm

The embossing folder adds some elegance to the card.  I stamped the candle and sentiment on a panel and used watercolor pencils to do the coloring.

These stamps are from the December SOM – Candlelight Garden:

Add a few sequins and it’s finished.

Christmas fun with Cut Above

We have these great Cut Above card kits which are designed for fast, easy cardmaking.  Everything is precut for you and minimal stamping (one stamp -sentiment).  Very easy and when you have a lot of cards to do, nice.

Ones I did:

CA wm

I did some extra decorating by adding some matting behind the red glitter strip and the sentiment strip.  Then I added a lot of glitter gel aka Stickles all over the card.  I did one with gold stickles on the snowflakes when Jeff told me he did not like the darker gems on the snowflakes.  While doing these, I got this one in the mail from my upline:

CA naomi

Naomi used some red and clear glitter gems and embossed the sentiment in gold.  Looks awesome.  Even though the Cut Above line is predone for you, you can still personalize it so it’s different!  Thanks for stopping by!

Joy and Peace Card

This is a simple card  to communicate the Joy and Peace of the season. Which we should experience but we tend to drive ourselves nuts and don’t.  I love creating background and have several stamps in my stash, long retired or other companies.

Joy and Peace wm

I cut a circle and put it where the “moon” is and sponged the background.  I used Sapphire ink to do the sponging.  You create the depth by laying or going over one area until you get it as dark as you want it. I use the CTMH sponge and cut into at least 4-6 pieces so it’s a great value!

Following this, I stamped the trees with Archival Black ink, using first and second generation images to create the scene.  In hind sight and looking at this as I post it, I would have taken the moon mask when stamping the trees because they would have been in front of the moon, not behind it.

JP wm 2

The sentiment captures the feeling I was trying to communicate with the scene.  Since the card was fairly simple, I did up the inside:

Thanks for stopping by.  Tomorrow is Christmas Eve.  May you have an occasion full of joy and peace with your family and friends!

A friend is one…another December SOM card

Here’s another December SOM S1512 Candlelight Garden card “A friend is one…”:

S1512 Card 2 wmI was inspired by the card sketch from Mojo Monday Sketch 427.  It’s not exact but has the “window pane” look.

Mojo427I used our watercolor pencils to color in the images.  I went over the coloring with a watercolor brush and water to blend it.   I find the watercolor pencils an easy option for people who want a watercolor look but not the mess!

3505You can get great shading and depth in color by layering.  If you need things to be lighter, use water and a paper towel to “lift” out the color.

S1512 CArd2b wm

Create the “water” by adding depth (darkness) of color around the edges of the jar, making strokes following the circular lines of the jar.  Go lighter towards the center.  Create the top of the water by defining a circle on top and coloring within that circle.

S1512 Card 2a wm

Finish off with the sentiment and the sequins. I added the sentiment on the side of the card for a different look (and honestly, where else was it going to fit??).   Neutral colored “gold” sequins have different shades of gold in the packet, giving you options.

Cute animals, Free Silver Shimmer Tape and Posh

I’m still making cards with these cute animals!  I had an inspiration for this card from a card with a snowflake I saw fleetingly on FB.  I changed the colors out to White Pines and switched from a snowflake to the cute animals!  I made two different versions.

D1656 Miracle of Christmas is the stamp set:

Stamp the animals, color them with the ShinHan Touch markers, and fussy cut out!

I used shimmer trim in gold and bronze to cover up the seam between the papers so you don’t have to worry about being exact or things matching!

Add some of the red enamel hearts

Oh What Fun we had

I made this swing card from the Artfully Sent cartridge “Oh What Fun”

Christmas Swing Card wm

I played with this for a bit before I was completely happy with it.  I used the White Pines paper.  I needed the saying to stand out so putting Fern cardstock behind it make it pop.

CSC a wm

I played with the different shades of the paper to see what would look best were on the front.  If you completely covered the front with either pattern, the words got lost so I only used some on one side of the front of the card and put the other back side.

CSC g santa wm

I made two different inserts playing with the stamp set (D1666 Believe in Christmas) which has some great traditional images (see below).

CSC d wm D1666 Believe in Santa

I have a bunch of the Stickles Pearl paints which I get from my friend Lisa Hamrick at the crops we vend at.  I used different colors to make the ornaments on the tree stand out, on Santa, and on the cut out to make it stand out (used paint brushes to do this).  I think the pearl lends to the traditional look of the stamps.

Even though the cards are more detailed, “what fun” they were to make! If you need a few more Christmas cards, give me a call and come over to make some!!  Thanks for stopping by and have a great day!

Sweet Fox dancing in the snow..

Another fun Christmas Card featuring the sweet fox dancing in the snow!

Fox Card 1 wm

Comes from D1656 Miracle of Christmas:

D1656 Mircle of Christmas

I thing the animals are super cute in this set.  The says are universal for the season.   I colored in the sweet fox with our ShinHan Touch Markers.

Fox a wm

I use the scalloped embossing folder to emboss the sapphire cardstock.  Added a few pennants to the card:

Fox b wm

Some prisma glitter adhered using our Glue Pen and the new blue glitter gems finish the card off.  Change the saying to “Thinking of You” and you can use the card during the January and February months!

Today’s special will help you keep those kissable lips:

Believe in the season

I think this is one of my favorite Christmas cards “Believe” because I believe in the reason for the season, Jesus.

Believe wm

I’m in love with Sapphire – the blue is perfect (and the color of my birthstone so I admit to being a bit bias).  I used the stamp set from the White Pines Card Making WOTG:

G1099 WP wotg cardmaking

It’s a great kit.  Anyway, the wreath in the kit is simple and very, very “in” right now with everyone using doodled circles in their  card making/crafting.

believe 1 wm

I used the October Stamp of the Month – Twinkle for the saying “Believe”….

believe 4 wm

I love how the White Pines paper is set off by the Sapphire paper.  I used Silver Shimmer Trim to add the accenting and the pennants…

believe 3 wm

A nice, simple Christmas card.  It’s not “traditional” looking but says it all.  It will be in the Come and Play Card Buffet. Take care and thank for stopping by!

MM 425 and SIP Color Challenge

Last week (or later) I did the MojoMonday aka MM 425 Sketch and the SIP Color Challenge.  I’ve been meaning to use this sweet bear from D1556 Miracle of Christmas, for a bit and glad I got the chance to!

MM425 SIP24 wm

Mojo425 SIP-Color-Challenge-24-800

I was not sure of the colors at first but ended up really like how it turned out!!   I actually designed the card on Design Space so it cut all the parts out for me…love!  I like how the layers worked on this card.  On the base, I used the gold foil trim to add a little bling.

MM425 1 wm

Then on the first layer, rectangle, I 2nd generation stamped in hollyhock the sayings.   I stamped the sentiment on top in Archival Black in.

MM425 3 wm

I stamped, colored with ShinHan Touch Makers, and fussy cut out the bear and layered him on top of the circle layer.   There is some Wink-of-Stella for some shimmer (I need to take out stock in that company – LOL)

MM425 4 wm

The last layer is a stamp from S1510 Twinkle (October’s SOM).  I 3-d foam dotted this layer up.  Added a few sequins for balance and called it good.

MM425 2 wm

While the colors did not initially strike me as holiday colors it worked out well.  This card will be one for the Come and Play Card Buffet coming up on this Saturday, Dec 12.  We have CropTastic from 12-9pm.  Card Buffets and WOTG are done from 12-3pm.   You can stay longer if you need or want to.
